Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown

Goodnight Moon is a short and easy story about a little rabbit saying goodnight to all of the things in his room. The pictures are bright and uncluttered.  The book is full of useful vocabulary, and has a nice rhyme, rhythm and repetition. This book will get any child interested in participating in finding the named items, and even in saying “goodnight” and/or “bye bye” to all of the things in the book.

This series of books, by various authors, is fun for both young children as well as beginning readers.

The Old Lady continues swallowing animals and objects until a thematic ending that will

surprise again and again. This is a good book to discuss holidays, seasons, vacations so that it can help children anticipate the things they will see and do. It is also good for older children who are learning to read because there is a lot of rhyme and repetition, so that by the end of the book your child will fluently be able to read the story by memory alone. All the books in the series that we have seen have been great fun for everyone to read again and again.
